Already know what your choices are? Is your quilt top ready to be quilted?
Square Inch Price
Edge-to-edge quilting starts at 2.5 cents per square inch. More complex designs and/or denser quilting is more. (I am lenient on the extra charge for complex/denser quilting. However, it does take longer and uses more thread.)
Example: A quilt top is 60 inches x 80 inches. 60 x 80 = 4800 x .025 = $120.00
My minimum quilting charge is $50. This means that a small quilt or table runner’s square inch price will be rounded up to the $50 minimum.
I provide a machine-stitched binding service with customer-provided binding @ $0.15 per inch. If I make the binding, it is $0.25 per inch.
I will trim your quilt after quilting for $10.
Quilting Choices
I want this to be fun for you and not overwhelming! You have the option of having me make the quilting decisions for you. It all depends on your purpose for the quilt, sometimes “done” is best!
What size should my backing be?
Here’s an easy way to remember: Four-for-four! 🙂 I require the backing to be 4″ extra ON ALL SIDES. For example, if you have a quilt top that is 60″ x 80″, your backing should measure at least 68″ x 88″. It can be bigger, not smaller. Extra fees may apply if I need to put extra time and effort into getting your quilt ready to load. If you have questions, please ask.
Tidy it Up!
Please press your top and backing for me so that it’s nice and tidy and ready for me to load. This is such an important step and makes a huge difference on the final outcome of your quilt. Please also clip stray threads or raveling fabrics as best as you can. You might not be able to get them all, but to prevent dark threads from shadowing through your quilt top, please don’t skip this important step!
I’m passionate about being able to give you results you will love. Teamwork! 🙂
Shipping Option
Shipping your top and backing to me: I live in Tennessee, USA, and would be happy to receive your top and backing by mail. I’d recommend sending your materials enclosed in a waterproof bag to protect against possible moisture in transit and then placed in a hard-sided cardboard box.
Return shipping: I will send your quilt back to you via USPS Priority mail (using flat rate when possible/economical). Priority mail comes with $50 of insurance and a tracking number but please indicate on your intake form if you would like me to buy any additional insurance on your behalf. It’s a great idea to insure your valuables against loss or damage while with the Postal Service, but I don’t require it.
Batting, is it all the same?
I carefully select and stock my favorite battings to give your quilt the best feel and finish.
Batting is a separate charge and is NOT included in the square inch price.
I charge for batting by the linear inch from queen rolls of batting except in the case of special orders. I will use only what is needed for your quilt (smallest side + a 4″ margin or less) and charge per inch.
For example, if you have a 60″ x 80″ quilt, I would cut 64″ of the batting of your choice.
Your may also provide your own quality batting !
You would be surprised how many quilters are waiting for the “perfect” quilt to finally hire a longarm quilter! While I do need a relatively “flat” surface to quilt on, many of the imperfections and “personality issues” are unnoticed once the quilt top is quilted and washed. Usually, the beautiful texture and softness will camouflage most imperfections. Let’s be proud of our quilting journey. Finished is better than perfect!
Quilty Goodness!
Generally, it is 1-3 weeks
My first choice is at a local quilt shop. If we need to meet at a time that is not within those business hours, we can choose a place together.
Yes, I would love to help you choose a design. You can give me full-reign or we can do “choose from 3”. I can text you 3 designs and if you love one of them, you can choose that one. If you don’t love any of the 3 designs, I can choose 3 more and discuss what your thoughts are.
I’d love to chat quilts with you and answer any questions you have about the process. You can click below to go to the contact page.
Love making bags?
The bag pictured here has been my daily tote to and from work for the last 16 months. It gets a workout! It is still in fabulous condition and I believe it has a lot to do with the quilting and the stability and strength it creates with the Soft and Stable foam. The quilting is also a nice artistic element that really says “custom”.
